Azerbaijan and Iran discuss economic and transport cooperation

A delegation led by Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Şahin Mustafayev visited Iran to hold a meeting of the co-chairs of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation. The discussions focused on the current state and development prospects of economic, trade, transport, communication, and humanitarian relations between the two nations.

Key topics included the development and capacity increase of the North-South International Transport Corridor. Officials noted the progress of the Agband–Kelaleh road bridge construction and discussed matters regarding the commissioning of border-crossing infrastructure. Additionally, the completion of works at the Astara freight terminal and the expansion of its loading capabilities were reviewed.

Mustafayev highlighted that the active political dialogue between President Ilham Aliyev and President Masoud Pezeshkian has provided significant momentum to bilateral relations. The meeting also addressed the implementation of agreements reached during the 17th session of the State Commission held in Baku in February.
