Azerbaijan and Iran discuss railway and transit cooperation
Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzana Sadegh held a telephone discussion to review bilateral relations and expand transit cooperation.
A primary focus of the talks was the progress of railway construction projects. Mustafayev noted that construction within Azerbaijan has reached the Aghband area. He emphasized that completing the corresponding section within Iran is vital for increasing regional transport capacity.
The discussions also covered border projects, cooperation in the oil and gas sectors, and energy issues. To facilitate ongoing coordination in gas, electricity, and transport, the Iranian minister proposed the rapid creation of a joint committee to monitor results and follow up on discussed matters.
