Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan outline regional initiatives at UN General Assembly

During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, representatives from Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan outlined their nations' strategic roles in regional and global cooperation.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov discussed the implementation of the Khankendi Communiqué and Action Plan at an Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) meeting. He highlighted Azerbaijan’s involvement in the Middle Corridor, including the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway and Alat Port, as well as the Digital Silk Way initiative. Additionally, he noted the launch of the ECO Clean Energy Centre in Baku and Shusha’s designation as the ECO Tourism Capital for 2026.

Representing Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration, addressed the General Assembly. She emphasized a foreign policy based on openness, good-neighborly relations, and dialogue. The address focused on connecting domestic reforms with global challenges such as climate change, food security, and technological inequality, positioning Uzbekistan as a proactive participant in shaping the international agenda.
