Azerbaijan backs Ukraine's sovereignty, pledges aid and gas supply

Azerbaijan’s foreign minister Ceyhun Bayramov said the country fully supports Ukraine’s internationally recognised borders and territorial integrity and will keep providing humanitarian assistance. Since February 2022 Baku has delivered about $50 million in aid, rebuilt a school in Irpen, established a sister‑city link with Irpen, and helped 700 Ukrainian children with rehabilitation and psychological support. Bayramov noted that regular ministerial contacts continue and that the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations will be marked next year.

He also announced that Azerbaijan is prepared to supply natural gas to Ukraine if a need arises, and is ready to consider using Ukraine’s underground gas storage facilities. The minister highlighted the long‑standing strategic energy cooperation between the two states and mentioned SOCAR’s continued operation in Ukraine, stressing the importance of keeping civilian energy infrastructure running and supporting reconstruction efforts.
