Qubadlı marks sixth anniversary of liberation from occupation
October 25 marks the sixth anniversary of the liberation of Qubadli from Armenian occupation, an event that occurred in 2020 during the Second Karabakh War. Following the military operations, President Ilham Aliyev officially designated October 25 as Qubadli City Day.
To honor the military personnel who demonstrated bravery during the liberation of the district, the “For the Liberation of Qubadli” medal was established. The district, which was occupied on August 31, 1993, is undergoing significant reconstruction efforts aimed at restoring both physical infrastructure and the cultural spirit of the region.
Local residents and students have expressed a mix of admiration for the natural beauty of the area and sadness over the destruction caused by years of occupation. There is a growing focus on rebuilding schools, roads, and homes to facilitate the return of displaced populations and to support future generations through institutions like Karabakh University.
