Azerbaijan deposit portfolio reaches 39.4 billion manat

Azerbaijan's deposit portfolio grew by 4.2% in the first half of 2026, reaching 39.4 billion manat, according to data from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan. Term deposits increased by 8.5% to 17.4 billion manat, while current deposits rose by 1.1% to 22.1 billion manat. Total deposits for legal entities reached 21.6 billion manat, a 2.6% increase from the start of the year.

Regarding currency trends, the dollarization level of physical person deposits decreased by 2.9 percentage points to 27.9%. Manat-denominated deposits for individuals totaled 26.2 billion manat, while foreign currency deposits stood at 13.2 billion manat equivalent.

In the payments sector, transactions via the Interbank Card Center (BKM) reached 81.099 million operations totaling 3.018 billion manat as of July 1. While the number of transactions increased by 9.6% compared to the previous year, the total amount decreased by 14.1%. The number of payment cards in circulation through the banking system and Azerpost reached 22.798 million by the end of June, a 10.4% year-on-year increase. Within this total, debit cards rose by 12%, while credit cards saw a 3.5% decline.
