Azerbaijan reports economic growth in ICT and transport sectors

Azerbaijan is seeing significant growth in its information, communication, transport, and warehousing sectors. Between January and August, the information and communication sector's added value rose by 10.7% to 1.775 billion manat, contributing 2% to the GDP. Investments in this sector also increased by 49.4%, reaching 320 million manat.

The transport and warehousing sector reported an added value of 6.654 billion manat, an 8.7% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. This growth is attributed to road infrastructure updates and expanded logistics capabilities.

Concurrently, discussions are underway regarding potential changes to labor laws in the service sector. Elshad Musayev, deputy chairman of the Milli Majlis Labor and Social Policy Committee, noted that proposals exist to allow different rest days for service industries where peak demand occurs on weekends. Economist Akif Nasirli supported this, suggesting that shifting weekend rest days to weekdays for sectors like tourism, restaurants, and transport could prevent service interruptions while still protecting workers' rights.
