Azerbaijan Education Minister discusses teacher recruitment and challenges

Azerbaijan's Minister of Science and Education, Emin Əmrullayev, addressed the evolving challenges of the teaching profession during the “New Challenges in Education VII International Forum” held at Baku State University. He noted that while digitalization and modern technologies offer better management of the learning process, the role of the teacher has become more difficult due to changing environments and student needs.

Əmrullayev emphasized the importance of rigorous selection criteria for future educators, questioning whether the system should prioritize the top percentage of graduates to ensure quality. He stressed that the core focus of the education system must remain on student learning outcomes and effective classroom management.

In conjunction with International Teachers Day on October 5, the Ministry also issued awards to several educators from the Mil-Muğan region for their contributions to education and the upbringing of the younger generation. Recipients were honored with the “Advanced Educator of the Republic of Azerbaijan” medal and the “Honorary Decree of the Ministry of Science and Education” for their achievements in various districts, including Beylagan, Saatlı, Sabirabad, and Imishli.
