Azerbaijani national music day operatic tradition Uzeyir Hajibeyli lyric concert cultural diplomacy

The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Italy hosted a lyric concert titled ‘Autumn Echoes: A Tribute to Azerbaijani Opera’ to celebrate Azerbaijan's National Music Day.

The event, attended by Ambassador Elchin Huseynli, featured a video tribute to Uzeyir Hajibeyli, a foundational figure in Azerbaijani classical music known for ‘Leyli and Majnun’, the first opera in the Muslim world. The musical program blended Azerbaijani traditions with European classical repertoire, including works by Giacomo Puccini and Asaf Zeynalli.

Opera singers Elmina Hasan and Jalal Bashirli performed a total of nine pieces, including solo performances and a final duet, accompanied by piano.
