Azerbaijan expands diplomatic and economic ties with Venezuela and Peru

Azerbaijan is expanding its diplomatic and economic reach through strengthened ties with Venezuela and Peru.

In Baku, Venezuelan National Assembly Vice President América Pérez met with Azerbaijan’s National Parliament Chairwoman Sahiba Qafarova to commemorate 30 years of diplomatic relations. The leaders pledged to deepen political and legislative exchanges, particularly within international frameworks like the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement. Discussions also touched upon the climate crisis and Azerbaijan’s role as the host of COP29.

Simultaneously, Peru is moving to reopen its embassy in Baku to revitalize relations with Azerbaijan. This diplomatic resumption aims to leverage Azerbaijan’s strategic position in the South Caucasus to expand trade, investment, and energy cooperation. The move is expected to facilitate higher-level contacts and provide Peruvian businesses with a gateway to Eurasian markets.
