OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President visits Azerbaijan

OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process regional security parliamentary diplomacy South Caucasus

Pere Joan Pons Sampietro, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, visited Azerbaijan on September 3, meeting with high-level officials including Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and members of the Milli Majlis.

Discussions focused on the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, regional security, and the role of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering mutual trust within the OSCE framework. Minister Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts toward regional stability and addressed critical humanitarian concerns, specifically the ongoing threat of landmines in liberated territories and the status of approximately 4,000 missing persons.

The visit also touched upon Azerbaijan’s strategic role in international energy security and its growing economic and logistical connectivity with Europe. Additionally, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister met with Sweden’s newly appointed ambassador, Louise Morsing, to discuss bilateral relations, regional security, and cooperation in trade and humanitarian spheres.
