Azerbaijan holds bilateral talks with Estonia and Japan to boost cooperation

On June 11, foreign ministry deputies Fariz Rzayev of Azerbaijan and Martin Roger of Estonia met in Baku to review the current state of political relations, emphasize the importance of continuous dialogue, and discuss cooperation in economic, humanitarian and educational fields. The talks also covered strategic energy and transport projects, regional issues such as the normalization of Azerbaijan‑Armenia relations, and reconstruction efforts in territories liberated from occupation.

A day earlier, on June 10, Azerbaijan’s foreign minister Ceyhun Bayramov met with Japan’s foreign minister Toshimitsu Motegi. The ministers marked more than three decades of diplomatic ties, pledged to deepen political dialogue and economic partnership, and agreed to introduce a one‑year visa‑free regime for Japanese citizens. They confirmed the forthcoming 12th Azerbaijan‑Japan Joint Economic Committee meeting in September 2025, accelerated negotiations on an investment agreement, and outlined cooperation on decarbonisation, the Trans‑Caspian transport corridor, oil‑gas field development and the Baku‑Tbilisi‑Ceyhan pipeline, underscoring Azerbaijan’s role in regional energy security.
