Azerbaijan identifies vast mineral reserves in Agdere and Kalbajar

Significant mineral and precious metal reserves have been identified in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, specifically within the Agdere and Kalbajar regions. According to economist and deputy Vugar Bayramov, these resources are expected to become primary drivers for the economic development of Karabakh and East Zangezur.

In the Agdere district, the Demirli copper deposit contains approximately 470,000 tons of copper. The Qizilbulag deposit is characterized as a gold-copper-coltan type, with ore containing an average of 4.0 g/t of gold, 5.4 g/t of silver, and 1.41% copper, alongside valuable components such as selenium, tellurium, and sulfur.

The Kalbajar district holds some of the largest gold deposits in the country. Estimated reserves include 143 tons of gold, 248 tons of silver, 57,000 tons of copper, 266 tons of selenium, and 274,000 tons of sulfur. Notably, the Soyudlu deposit alone is valued at over 115 tons of gold. Other significant finds include nearly 15 tons of gold in the Agduzdag and Tutkhun deposits, and over 1,000 tons of mercury reserves across various sites such as Agyataq and Levchay. The region also possesses substantial reserves of marble, onyx, and nephrite.
