Heydar Aliyev International Airport launches electronic border control
The State Border Service has implemented an electronic border control system at Heydar Aliyev International Airport to enhance passenger convenience and operational efficiency. The new automated passport control and biometric identification system is currently available for citizens aged 18 and older at the airport's arrival hall.
The automated process allows passengers to scan their identity documents, after which the system performs necessary checks and verifies biometric data. Once confirmed, the electronic gate opens, completing the process in approximately 20 seconds. This technology aims to reduce waiting times, increase flexibility, and minimize human intervention. Future plans include expanding this system to other state border crossing points.
