Azerbaijan implements new safety rules for non-food imports

New regulations regarding the safety requirements for non-food consumer goods imported into Azerbaijan have come into effect. Under the updated law, importers must present documentation such as certificates of conformity or declarations of conformity to customs authorities to verify that products meet technical regulations and standards.

Customs officials are now authorized to verify that imported goods are accompanied by the required documentation. The law prohibits the production, sale, import, and use of products that do not comply with technical regulations or have not undergone conformity assessment. The measure aims to prevent the entry of hazardous goods, improve import control mechanisms, and enhance consumer safety.

A 24-month transition period has been established to allow entrepreneurs involved in the import of non-food goods to adapt to these new requirements.
