Azerbaijan introduces PalmPay biometric palm-scanning payments
Azerbaijan has introduced PalmPay, a biometric payment system developed by the digital financial services company MPAY. The technology allows users to complete transactions by scanning the unique vascular patterns in their palms, eliminating the need for physical cards, smartphones, or cash.
The system was first implemented in late August at a Bolmart retail location. Once the device verifies a user's identity through their palm structure, the transaction is processed via an associated MPAY digital wallet. The company intends to expand the use of this technology to more establishments progressively.
