Azerbaijan launches first digital forensics and malware analysis laboratory

The State Service for Special Communications and Information Security (XRİTDX) has launched Azerbaijan’s first digital forensics and malware analysis laboratory at the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU). The facility was established following a 2022 memorandum of cooperation between XRİTDX and AzTU, with technical implementation supported by the Ministry of Economy in accordance with the national cybersecurity strategy for 2023–2027.

The laboratory is equipped with specialized software and advanced technological tools to facilitate practical studies on real-world cyber incident scenarios. Key capabilities include the investigation of digital evidence, studying malware behavior, reverse engineering, code and malware analysis, and technical forensic examination of cyberattacks.

This initiative aims to strengthen the protection of state information resources and critical information infrastructure. It also serves as a hub for developing local professional expertise, providing training for students, researchers, and government specialists to combat targeted cyber threats.
