Azerbaijan officials discuss education loan reforms and school leadership

In Azerbaijan, discussions regarding education policy and school management have emerged within the Milli Majlis and the Ministry of Science and Education.

Member of the Science and Education Committee, Elnara Akimova, has proposed a revision of social criteria for student education loans. She argued that the current approach, which often excludes students if their parents are employed, fails to account for a family's actual financial capacity. Akimova suggested that factors such as per capita income, the number of family members, and existing social obligations should be considered to create a more equitable mechanism for providing concessional loans to students in need.

Separately, Minister of Science and Education Emin Emrullayev addressed the responsibilities of school principals. During a conference for education workers, the Minister stated that school leaders should not merely complain about the behavior of parents or the surrounding community, but should actively work to manage these social environments. He emphasized that effective school management requires professional leadership skills and the ability to resolve local issues rather than deferring all problems to higher authorities.
