Azerbaijan officials lead diplomatic visit to Ganjasar and Khudavang monasteries

Hikmət Hacıyev, the Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department for the President of Azerbaijan, led a visit to the Ganjasar and Khudavang monasteries alongside members of the diplomatic corps. The visit aimed to highlight the historical and religious significance of these sites as integral parts of the ancient Caucasian Albanian Christian heritage.

Hacıyev noted that during years of occupation, these monuments underwent interventions under the guise of restoration, which compromised their architectural authenticity and original character. He emphasized that Azerbaijan remains committed to the protection and preservation of all historical, cultural, and religious monuments within its territory, regardless of their origin or religious affiliation.

Members of the Milli Majlis, including Elnarə Akimova, stated that such visits allow diplomats and experts to observe the physical evidence of these sites firsthand, moving the discussion beyond political statements to factual observation of the architecture and its condition.
