Azerbaijan passport offers 80% visa-free access in Central Asia
According to the September 2026 update from Passport Index, the Azerbaijani passport provides visa-free access to 80 percent of Central Asian countries. Citizens can enter Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan without a prior visa, while Turkmenistan remains the only country in the region requiring advance visa arrangements.
Globally, the Azerbaijani passport is ranked 112th with a mobility score of 81. The passport offers a total global access coverage of 40.9 percent. This includes 35 visa-free destinations, 42 destinations with simplified procedures such as e-visas or visas on arrival, and 4 destinations accessible via electronic travel authorizations. Conversely, 117 destinations require a visa in advance.
Regional access varies significantly: the Caribbean offers 62.5 percent coverage, the Middle East 58.8 percent, Asia 55.1 percent, Africa 51.9 percent, and the Gulf countries 50 percent. In contrast, European access is limited to 17 percent, with only 8 out of 47 destinations being visa-free. Specific visa-free durations include 360 days for Georgia, 180 days for Armenia, and 90 days for Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Russia.
