Azerbaijan education and employment landscape undergoes scrutiny
Discussions regarding the effectiveness of vocational education and employment integration in Azerbaijan have gained prominence. Education experts note a decline in interest in colleges due to difficulties graduates face in securing employment and limited pathways to higher education. While some sectors like medicine remain stable, other vocational graduates struggle to enter the labor market.
In response, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Qurbanov emphasized the need for flexible vocational programs and modern technology integration. He noted that a primary reason for graduate unemployment is a lack of practical skills, as current curricula often prioritize theory over hands-on experience. To address this, officials are calling for better alignment between educational training and actual labor market demands.
Additionally, a career fair was held for graduates of the 2022–2028 State Program for studying at prestigious foreign universities. Organized by the Ministry of Science and Education and the State Employment Agency, the event featured over 150 vacancies from more than 40 state and private organizations, aiming to connect highly educated youth with domestic development opportunities.
