Azerbaijan reports 9.2 percent decline in foreign visitors

Official data from the State Border Service indicates that the number of foreign visitors to Azerbaijan decreased by 9.2 percent during the January-July 2026 period compared to the previous year. A total of 1.3426 million non-citizens entered the country from 191 nations.

Russia accounted for the largest share of arrivals at 28.3 percent, followed by Turkey at 20.0 percent and Iran at 7.9 percent. While arrivals from European Union countries saw an 8.0 percent increase, visitors from Gulf countries declined by 32.8 percent.

Regarding outbound travel, the number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad decreased by 2.4 percent, totaling 1.1601 million people. Turkey remained the primary destination for Azerbaijani citizens, receiving 42.7 percent of travelers.
