Azerbaijan reports rising profit tax revenues amid inflation concerns

Azerbaijan's economic landscape shows a rise in corporate tax revenues alongside persistent inflation concerns. Between January and August 2026, the average annual inflation rate stood at 5.7 percent. Food, beverages, and tobacco products saw a 6.9 percent increase, while services rose by 5.6 percent. Experts warn that while a 5.3 percent inflation forecast for 2027 is possible, it remains conditional on global commodity prices, exchange rate stability, and local supply chain efficiency.

In terms of state revenue, profit tax from legal entities reached 5.18 billion manats from January to July 2026, representing a 2.2 percent increase compared to the same period the previous year. This tax now accounts for approximately 22 percent of total state budget revenues. Major contributors to tax collections include BP Exploration (Azerbaijan) Limited, SOCAR's Azneft Production Association, Lukoil Overseas Shah Deniz Ltd., and Turkish Petroleum Overseas Company Ltd.
