Azerbaijan Press Council condemns assault on Real TV journalists

The Azerbaijan Press Council has issued a statement condemning the physical assault and pressure faced by Real TV employees while covering a tragic incident at School No. 225 in the Yasamal district of Baku. The incident occurred as journalists were reporting on the death of a 7th-grade student who reportedly fell from a window during class.

The Press Council described the use of physical force and threats against media professionals as unacceptable, emphasizing that any disputes should be resolved through legal channels and mutual respect rather than violence. The Council called for an objective and thorough investigation into the incident and the legal accountability of those involved.

Educational experts have also weighed in on the broader issue of school safety and student behavior. Following the incident, discussions have emerged regarding the need for better management of aggression in schools, the importance of fostering a culture of responsibility, and the necessity of collaborative efforts between teachers, psychologists, and parents to prevent future violence.
