Armenia and Azerbaijan advance peace and economic connectivity
Armenia and Azerbaijan are advancing efforts toward peace and economic connectivity in the South Caucasus. During the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that the two nations have reached a de facto peace and are working to finalize agreements previously initialed during the Washington Peace Summit.
Bayramov highlighted that Azerbaijan has unilaterally lifted transit restrictions to facilitate trade with Armenia and has been providing strategic petroleum products to the country since December 2025. This economic cooperation is part of a broader effort to transform the region into a hub for stability and connectivity.
On the Armenian side, officials noted that the country has begun exporting goods to Azerbaijan, including aluminum foil, marking the first such trade since the intensification of peace negotiations in 2025. Both nations have expressed a commitment to direct dialogue and the unblocking of economic and transport infrastructure.
