Azerbaijan sees surge in oil coke exports as Batumi jet fuel shipments resume

Azerbaijan’s petroleum coke exports rose sharply in the first half of 2026, reaching 116,551 metric tons worth $46.4 million – a 50 % increase in export value and 20 % rise in volume compared with the same period in 2025. The commodity accounted for 0.28 % of the country’s total exports, while overall crude oil and petroleum product exports fell modestly.

In parallel, the Batumi Oil Terminal in Georgia, operated by Kazakhstan’s KazTransOil, restarted transshipment of JET A1 aviation fuel after an eight‑year pause. The first shipment of 10,000 tons of jet fuel was stored at the terminal for onward rail delivery to Kazakhstan, supporting the Trans‑Caspian International Transport Route and enhancing fuel security for Kazakhstan’s civil aviation. The terminal handled about 725,000 tons of liquid bulk cargo in the first half of 2026 and remains a key logistics hub in the Black Sea region.
