Azerbaijan statistical reports highlight airport usage and crime trends
Recent data from the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan reveals significant disparities in transportation and crime statistics for 2025.
In the aviation sector, while air travel reached a five-year high with approximately 4 million passengers and 750,000 domestic flights, usage is heavily concentrated. Most air traffic flows through Heydar Aliyev International Airport. While Nakhchivan remains active, its flights primarily connect to Baku. Other regional airports, including those in Gabala, Lachin, Zangilan, Fuzuli, and Lankaran, are not used for regular passenger transport.
Regarding criminal statistics, 13,846 people were convicted in 2025, consisting of 13,179 men and 667 women. Drug-related offenses represent the largest category, accounting for 41 percent of all convictions with 5,683 individuals sentenced. Property crimes follow as the second largest economic crime category, involving 3,680 convictions. Additionally, the report notes that 308 of those convicted were minors aged 14 to 17.
