Azerbaijan students prioritize job security over personal interests

Only 3.2 percent of graduates in Azerbaijan choose their academic specialties based solely on personal interest. Education experts note that most students are driven by practical considerations, including future employment prospects, potential income, and family expectations.

Experts Elmusa Atamaliyev and Anar Kazimov highlight that while choosing a field with high market demand is important, a mismatch between a student's skills and their chosen profession can lead to decreased motivation and professional stagnation.

Furthermore, the rapid evolution of the labor market—driven by artificial intelligence and automation—is shifting the concept of prestigious professions. Experts suggest that students must look beyond current social prestige and consider how technological advancements might alter the required skills and demand for specific roles over the next decade.
