Azerbaijan to ban LGBT promotion in media and public spaces
Azerbaijan is set to adopt legislation that prohibits the promotion of LGBT topics in public spaces, media, and other information channels. The proposed law aims to restrict content deemed to promote non-traditional sexual orientations, citing the protection of children's health and development as the primary justification.
The regulations are expected to impact several sectors:
- Media and Internet: Restrictions will be placed on the dissemination of information promoting LGBT relationships, including social media posts, videos, and blogs. - Advertising and Cinema: The promotion of such content in advertisements and films will be prohibited. - Education: Content promoting non-traditional sexual orientations in schools will be restricted.
Violations of the law may result in fines and other administrative measures. For media organizations, penalties could include the suspension of activities, while foreign media outlets could face the revocation of their operating licenses within the country. Responsibility for compliance will extend to media owners and leadership.
