Azerbaijan to launch Baku-Brussels direct flights in 2027
Azerbaijan is set to enhance connectivity for European travelers with the introduction of direct flights between Baku and Brussels. Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, announced at the Euronews Travel & Tourism Summit 2026 that Azerbaijan Airlines will begin operating four weekly flights on this route starting May 8, 2027.
Sengstschmid highlighted Baku's evolution into a regional hub, noting that Heydar Aliyev International Airport holds a five-star Skytrax rating. He expressed hope that these new connections will serve as a gateway for visitors to explore the country beyond the capital, including UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Grand Caucasus mountains, and the Silk Road.
Additional destinations promoted include the village of Sim in southern Azerbaijan, described as a diverse location featuring wooden houses and waterfalls. The initiative aims to showcase the country's varied landscapes, which range from semi-desert environments to mountain peaks exceeding 4,000 meters.
