Azerbaijani universities showcase defense innovations and sustainability research

Azerbaijani academic institutions are advancing research and student engagement in defense technology and sustainable development.

At the ADEX 2026 International Defense Exhibition, Baku Engineering University (BMU) presented 11 innovative scientific research products. These include chemical compositions for defense systems, such as solid rocket fuel, smokeless gunpowder, and materials for energy transmission and combustion regulation. These products have undergone practical testing with positive results.

Baku State University (BDU) is also conducting several academic initiatives. The university has announced a research project competition through its Internal Research and Development Fund, offering funding for fundamental, applied, and young researcher projects.

Additionally, BDU is hosting forums and programs focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This includes the III Youth Networking Forum, which discussed sustainable urban development, and the ‘FUTURE17 SDG Challenge,’ a joint initiative with QS and the University of Exeter designed to help students develop innovative solutions for social and environmental challenges.
