Azerbaijan's Bitumen Export Revenues Surge as Turkmenistan Grain Output Grows

Turkmenistan reported an 11.6% increase in grain production during the first half of 2026, alongside rises in vegetables, melons, potatoes and milk, reflecting continued efforts to boost domestic food supply and agricultural exports.

In the same period, Azerbaijan recorded a sharp rise in petroleum bitumen exports, shipping 8,109 metric tons worth $2.3 million—more than double the volume and value from the first half of 2025. The increase contributed to a $7.9 billion trade surplus despite a slight decline in crude oil export values.

Both developments highlight strengthening economic activity in the Caspian region, with Turkmen agriculture expansion and Azerbaijan's higher‑value petroleum product sales supporting broader trade growth.
