Azimut Yachts partners with Ferrari for Hypersail racing project

Azimut Yachts has been named the official yachting and technical partner for Ferrari Hypersail, an ambitious offshore ocean racing project. The collaboration aims to integrate Ferrari’s racing DNA into the world of ocean sailing yachts through high-technology development.

To support the project, Azimut is developing a custom Fly 72 tow boat specifically engineered for the technical demands of the Hypersail prototype. This specialized vessel will serve as a support, crew, and hospitality boat, but its primary mission is to tow the full-foiling monohull during initial flight testing. To achieve the necessary speeds of approximately 30 knots to lift the prototype onto its foils, the Fly 72 has undergone radical modifications.

Through extensive use of carbon fiber, the custom boat has been reduced by six tons in weight compared to the standard model. Additionally, its power has been doubled to 4,000 CV. The Ferrari Hypersail operational base will be established at the Azimut shipyard in Livorno, Italy.
