Azores announces agricultural infrastructure investment amid PRR scrutiny
The Azores Regional Government has announced an investment of 1,307,500 euros for the improvement of agricultural paths on the islands of São Miguel, Pico, and Terceira. Managed by the Regional Institute of Agrarian Planning (IROA), the projects aim to enhance accessibility, circulation, and safety for rural territories. The works, funded through the PEPAC program and FEADER, include the paving of approximately five kilometers of roads.
In a separate political development, the Socialist Party (PS/Açores) has submitted a request to the Legislative Assembly seeking detailed information regarding the execution of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) in the region. Parliamentary leader Berto Messias requested data on financial execution, the progress of milestones, and the distribution of investments across different islands and sectors. The request specifically seeks to understand which projects may not be completed under the PRR and how those investments will be addressed. Regional President José Manuel Bolieiro has defended the administration, stating that the region has met all defined milestones and goals.
