Azores establishes mission structure for 600th anniversary celebrations
The Azores Regional Government has established a mission structure to organize the commemorations of the 600th anniversary of the discovery and settlement of the Azores, scheduled for 2027.
The mission structure is tasked with the technical and operational planning, coordination, and execution of the commemorative program. It aims to ensure institutional, scientific, cultural, educational, and communicational coherence throughout the celebrations. Key objectives include promoting coordination between government departments, local municipalities, and partner entities, while encouraging participation from civil society and local communities.
The structure will be led by a coordinator supported by a technical team and an advisory group composed of experts with recognized merit in relevant fields. Members of the technical and advisory teams will not receive remuneration for their roles, though they may be entitled to legal travel allowances and expenses.
