Azores government initiates tourism monitoring and electric vehicle program on Corvo

The regional government of the Azores has begun a two‑month tourist‑flow monitoring programme on the island of Corvo, deploying sensors at key visitation points and gathering data from visitors, residents and tourism operators during July and August. The data will be analysed in September‑October, with a technical report slated for November, to inform future visitor‑management decisions and maintain a balance between tourism benefits and resident pressure.

During the same official visit, President José Manuel Bolieiro delivered an electric vehicle to the Corvo health unit as part of the EU‑backed Recovery and Resilience Plan. The trip also included meetings with local officials, presentations of the monitoring plan by tourism secretary Berta Cabral, and visits to community facilities, underscoring a broader effort to improve infrastructure and public services on the island.
