Azores hires 108 operational assistants for new school year
The Azores Regional Secretariat for Education, Culture and Sport has hired 108 operational assistants to support the start of the 2026/2027 school year. The new staff members will begin their roles on September 1.
Of the new hires, 48 will hold permanent public service contracts, while 60 will be on temporary fixed-term contracts. The recruitment was conducted through the ‘Bolsa de Ilha’, a centralized recruitment mechanism designed by the regional government to distribute candidates across different islands based on their final ranking and stated preferences.
Regional Secretary Sofia Ribeiro stated that this measure reinforces human resources to ensure the regular functioning of schools and responds to identified needs. This initiative is part of the ‘Azores Education Strategy 2030’, which aims to improve the regional educational system and provide quality, inclusive schooling.
