Azores President calls for political responsibility for 2027 budget
Azores Government President José Manuel Bolieiro has called for political responsibility among all parties regarding the 2027 regional budget. He emphasized that securing a budget is fundamental for the region as it transitions away from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), which concluded on August 31.
Bolieiro noted that the 2027 budget represents a significant challenge, as it will be the first in five years without PRR funding, leading to an estimated decrease of 400 million euros. He stated that his administration's non-negotiable priorities include maintaining financial sustainability and fulfilling the regional government's program.
During meetings with political parties and social partners in Ponta Delgada, Bolieiro identified social issues and housing as primary concerns. He pledged to continue investments in housing and the 'Novos Idosos' program despite the reduction in available funds.
