Azores President invites diaspora and immigrants to invest in the archipelago

José Manuel Bolieiro, President of the Regional Government of the Azores, has expressed a welcoming stance toward both new immigrants and the Azorean diaspora looking to return to the archipelago. Speaking in Vaughan, Canada, Bolieiro noted that while the Portuguese State controls immigration laws, the Azores aim to provide a welcoming environment for those who choose to live there.

Bolieiro highlighted that the region has seen a significant increase in resident immigrants who contribute to the local economy through labor and investment. To encourage the return of the diaspora, the government is emphasizing available conditions such as social security and access to the Regional Health Service.

Key sectors identified for potential investment by returning citizens include tourism, real estate, the blue economy, digital economy, and scientific research.
