Azores social partners demand wage hikes and poverty measures for 2027 Budget

Social partners in the Azores have met with Regional Government leader José Manuel Bolieiro to discuss priorities for the 2027 Plan and Budget.

CGTP-IN/Açores is advocating for a general increase in wages to prevent a reduction in workers' purchasing power. Their proposals include improving collective bargaining agreements, increasing the regional minimum wage supplement from 5% to 10%, and providing a 100 euro complementary remuneration. The union also suggested a reduction of the working week to 35 hours.

UGT/Açores emphasized the need for measures to combat poverty, social exclusion, and school dropout rates. While acknowledging recent economic growth and job creation, the union noted that the region still lags behind national averages in several social aspects. They called for dignified work, fair wages, and better access to housing to ensure residents can support their families without significant hardship.
