Azores weather alert: Atlantic depression brings rain and wind
An Atlantic depression is expected to bring deteriorating weather conditions to the Azores, particularly affecting the Western and Central island groups. The instability is forecasted to persist through Sunday.
In the Western Group, the islands of Flores and Corvo are expected to be the most exposed. Forecasters predict frequent precipitation and wind gusts reaching between 50 and 60 km/h. Sea conditions are also expected to worsen, with waves potentially reaching heights of five meters, particularly in the westernmost islands.
The Central Group, including Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Pico, and Faial, is expected to see increasing cloud cover and rain starting in the afternoon. While wind speeds in this group are expected to be more moderate than in the Western Group, the overall weather pattern indicates a period of significant instability across the archipelago.
