Azotor Smart microbial fertilizer unveiled in Konya, Turkey

A new generation microbial fertilizer named Azotor Smart was introduced in Konya. The product was co‑developed by the Konya Pancar Ekicileri Kooperatifi, Konya Gıda ve Tarım Üniversitesi (KGTU) and Konya Şeker after four to five years of laboratory and field research. Azotor Smart is the first microbial fertilizer created for sugar beet in Turkey and is also effective on potatoes. It prevents root rot, boosts yields and lowers the amount of conventional fertilizer needed, aiming to cut production costs and support sustainable agriculture.

The launch ceremony gathered key figures including PANKOBİRLİK General President Ramazan Erkoyuncu, KGTU Rector Prof. Dr. Erol Turan, institute director Dr. Cihan Uzun and other university and agricultural officials. Speakers highlighted the challenges posed by climate change and rising input costs, calling the new fertiliser a vital tool for farmers facing tighter margins.
