Azpeitia taxi driver murder suspect ordered into provisional prison

A judge has ordered provisional prison for a 43-year-old man accused of murdering a 31-year-old taxi driver in Azpeitia, Gipuzkoa. The victim was shot multiple times with a short firearm on Artzubia Avenue on the evening of September 1.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle and remained at large for approximately 80 hours before voluntarily surrendering to the Ertzaintza in Ondarroa on Saturday morning. Upon his surrender, police seized a small-caliber handgun. The individual has a prior criminal record involving drug offenses.

The court has imputed the crime of murder, pending further judicial investigation.
