Azua to host Cultura en el Sur festival in November

The Dominican Republic’s Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo, has announced the “Cultura en el Sur” festival, which will take place in Azua from November 12 to 15. The event will be hosted at the Azua campus of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).

The festival is dedicated to the renowned Dominican visual artist Dionisio Blanco in recognition of his contributions to the arts. The program features 51 activities designed to showcase the cultural diversity and traditions of six provinces: Azua, San Juan, Elías Piña, San José de Ocoa, Peravia, and San Cristóbal.

By bringing these activities to the southern region, the Ministry of Culture aims to expand artistic participation outside of Santo Domingo, foster exchange between creators and communities, and promote regional talent.
