Azul announces full operational status for Embraer E195-E2 fleet

Azul has announced that its entire fleet of Embraer E195-E2 jets is now operational, overcoming long-standing engine availability issues. CEO John Rodgerson stated during the company’s second-quarter results conference that the fleet is ready for service following improvements in the availability of Pratt & Whitney PW1900G engines.

For several years, Azul faced significant disruptions due to the Pratt & Whitney GTF engine family issues, which affected both its E195-E2 and Airbus A320neo fleets. To mitigate parts shortages, the airline had previously taken the unusual step of acquiring two nearly new E195-E2 aircraft specifically to serve as sources of spare parts. One of these aircraft has already been returned to commercial service.
