Azul Azul board faces removal following liquidator request
The board of directors of Azul Azul, the company managing the Universidad de Chile football club, faces a mandatory removal process. Eduardo Godoy, the liquidator representing the Tactical Sport fund—which holds 63.07% of the shares through Sartor AFIP—has officially requested an extraordinary shareholders' meeting to revoke the current 11-member board.
Under Chilean corporate law, a shareholder holding more than 10% of shares can request such a meeting. The meeting must be held within 30 days, meaning a decision is expected by November 19. Because Godoy controls a majority of the shares, the revocation of the current board, which includes president Cecilia Pérez, is widely anticipated.
Following the revocation, a new board will be elected. The new composition will likely include seven members chosen by Godoy on behalf of Tactical Sport, two selected by Universidad de Chile, and two others involving José Ramón Correa. The club has stated it will continue administrative operations to ensure the stability of the men's, women's, and youth teams during this transition.
