Azul Council demands Route 3 highway and toll relocation
The Azul Deliberative Council held a special session on the side of National Route 3 to demand infrastructure improvements, specifically the construction of a highway (autovía) for the stretch between Las Flores and Chillar. The session marked 15 years of local activism by residents and organizations seeking road safety and modernization.
Council members unanimously approved a request to relocate a projected toll station from kilometer 290 to the vicinity of kilometer 230. This move responds to concerns from residents of Cacharí, who argue the current placement would impose unnecessary costs on their regular travel to Azul. The council also reviewed responses from National Road Administration (Vialidad Nacional) regarding planned roadworks and toll installations, though official documentation remains under review.
