Embraer E2 aircraft face global GPS instability disruptions

A global GPS reception instability has disrupted operations for Embraer E2-series aircraft, specifically affecting models using the Honeywell Primus Epic 2 avionics suite. The issue has had significant operational impacts on various airlines worldwide, including reports of flight cancellations and delays for Porter Airlines in Canada, KLM and Luxair in Europe, and Mexicana.

In Brazil, Azul Linhas Aéreas was heavily impacted, reporting over 80 flight cancellations and affecting more than 8,000 passengers. The airline temporarily grounded a large portion of its E195-E2 fleet to manage the disruption, though operations began to normalize following system updates. Embraer and Honeywell are jointly investigating the cause of the signal reception failure.

Embraer has stated that the issue does not compromise flight safety, as the E2 fleet is equipped with alternative navigation systems and procedures designed to maintain safe operations even during GPS instability. The manufacturer is providing technical support to operators to resolve the matter.
