Santa Catarina highway concession auctions postponed to 2027

The Brazilian federal government has moved the auction of federal highway concessions in the state of Santa Catarina from 2026 to 2027. Public hearings held by the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) in Concórdia and Chapecó led to the schedule change. The new timetable sets the auctions for September 2027, contract signing for December 2027 and the start of concession operations in 2028.

Two concession lots will be offered, covering sections of BR‑153, BR‑282, BR‑470 and BR‑480. Lot 1, about 515 km, includes the main stretch of BR‑470 and parts of BR‑153 and BR‑282, with an estimated investment of R$ 6.4 billion. Lot 3, about 166 km, comprises parts of BR‑153, BR‑282 and BR‑480, with an estimated R$ 2.7 billion. The combined projected investment is roughly R$ 9.1 billion.

The Transport Companies Union of Western and Central‑West Santa Catarina (Setcom) welcomed the postponement, saying it allows more time to push for the inclusion of essential works on BR‑153 in the Concórdia region that were not in the original plan.
