Azuqueca de Henares mayor renounces salary to pursue teaching

Miguel Óscar Aparicio, the mayor of Azuqueca de Henares in Guadalajara, has announced he will combine his mayoral duties with part-time teaching. He will dedicate a maximum of 13 hours per week to education.

As part of this transition, Aparicio has voluntarily renounced his salary from the City Council. He described the move as a “personal, transparent decision” that remains compatible with his role as mayor. He emphasized that while his professional and remunerative situation is changing, his commitment to the municipality remains firm and he will continue to coordinate municipal activities.

The formal resignation of his salary takes effect upon the signing of the official resolution. This decision will be communicated to the corporate plenary in the first ordinary session and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Guadalajara, the electronic headquarters, the Transparency Portal, and the municipal notice board.
